Am 19. May 2026 found the next edition of RARISSIMA instead. And it didn’t feel like another automotive format. It felt like a signal.

Not loud. Not superficial. Not staged for quick attention. They are driven, shared, discussed and experienced.

This is why RARISSIMA was the right place for a first preview of KAR - The Collector Authenticity Registry. Because when rare vehicles, serious collectors, technical expertise and real conversations come together, one question becomes particularly clear: How will trust become visible, testable and shareable in the collector world in the future?

One signature. One Registry. One source of truth.

What made RARISSIMA so special

RARISSIMA does not describe itself as a classic concours. The idea behind it is clear: The vehicles should not only be exhibited, but driven and experienced. The edition at 19. May 2026 brought together a deliberately closed format with around 200 guests - without mass audiences, without media over-staging, with a focus on community, culture and real participation.

This matched what was noticeable on site: energy, curiosity, quality and a shared respect for the things that make a vehicle not only valuable, but meaningful.

A rare car is never just an object. It is material, technology, history, sound, memory, risk, market value and identity at the same time. This is where the real value of a serious collector culture begins: not in pure presentation, but in the ability to understand an object.

The first preview of KAR

At RARISSIMA, KAR was presented to a selected group for the first time. The response was very positive and encouraging - including first signups.

KAR stands for Collector Authenticity Registry. KAR is a new product and venture for the new collector economy: a place where objects are verified, collections structured, stories preserved, knowledge shared and trust made visible.

KAR connects the emotional world of collecting with the scientific discipline of authentication and the digital future.

Why collectors need more than paper today

The collector world has changed. Vehicles, art objects, design pieces, watches and special collection objects move more internationally, faster and more transparently than before. At the same time, the questions have become more complex.

  • What is original?
  • What has been restored?
  • Which components are contemporary?
  • Which documents are reliable?
  • Which history is documented - and which only passed on?
  • Which interventions increase the value, which weaken it, and which must be classified cleanly?

In the classic vehicle world, many of these answers arise from expert opinions, factory documents, historical research, material analysis, technical investigation, market knowledge and experience. This is where KUKUK’s strength lies since 40: in forensic vehicle analysis, technical precision, independent judgment and documented traceability.

KAR transfers this expertise into a new digital product and makes it usable across collections. Not as a substitute for expertise, but as a new infrastructure that makes forensic expertise findable, connectable and usable in the long term.

From Authenticity to Trust

Authenticity is not a single photo, certificate or sentence in a sales description. Authenticity arises from connections.

It arises when identity features, material findings, historical documents, restoration reports, market information, expert estimates and object histories are brought into a comprehensible order.

A register is more than a filing. It creates relationships between information. It makes visible what belongs to an object. It helps not to have to retrieve knowledge in every transaction. And it can prevent valuable information from being lost when an object changes collection.

  • For collectors, this means more security.
  • For buyers, it means more clarity.
  • For sellers, it means more credibility.
  • For insurers, restoration companies, experts and market participants, it means a better basis for decisions.

Why KUKUK is the German engineering backbone of KAR

KAR is a new venture, but not a detached product without a professional foundation. It is directly linked to KUKUK.

KUKUK is the German engineering backbone of KAR: the technical, forensic and documentary basis behind the product. For 40 years, KUKUK has worked at the interface of collector vehicles, authentication, assessment, damage analysis, restoration issues and robust documentation.

Evidence over assumption. Evidence instead of assertions.

A rare vehicle does not become authentic because its history is repeated often enough. An appraisal is not made strong by the fact that it looks beautiful. What matters is what is testable.

KUKUK works with technical investigation, objective documentation and scientific methods. Depending on the question, these include material analysis, lacquer layer measurement, endoscopy, ultrasound, 3D scan, history research, matching number verification and other methods.

RARISSIMA as an ideal starting point

The fact that KAR was presented for the first time at RARISSIMA was no coincidence. RARISSIMA focuses on a culture in which rare cars are not only regarded as status objects. The vehicles are driven, discussed, experienced and placed in a cultural context.

This is exactly the environment in which a product like KAR makes sense. Because a register is only valuable if the community behind it understands the importance of knowledge, origin and responsibility.

What KAR can do for the new collector economy

The next generation of the collector economy is not only defined by scarcity. It is defined by trust.

  • as a registry for important collection objects
  • as a structure for provenance, documents and authentication knowledge
  • as a digital basis for purchase, sale, insurance, restoration and presentation
  • as a link between expert opinion, object history and collector’s perspective
  • as a place where trust is not asserted, but made visible

Driven, not displayed

“Driven, not displayed” not only describes RARISSIMA. It also describes an attitude.

A vehicle is not fully understood if it stands only on a lawn. A collection object is not fully preserved if its history is not documented. And trust is not created by surface, but by substance.

KAR is therefore more than a digital tool. It is a new product that better combines the things that collectors take seriously anyway: passion, knowledge, origin, expertise and responsibility.

Thanks to the RARISSIMA community, to Ole from Banzai for the trip from Munich in the Police Porsche, Irene and her team for the special videos and of course to everyone from The Box.

Driven, not displayed. Verified, not assumed.
