An evening among the cars
The official occasion was the 65th anniversary of the Jaguar E Type. Our photographs record the evening at Cady Cars: guests gathered between the rows of cars, an address from the gallery and dinner together afterwards. Candles on the tables and musicians in the room give these images their own character. The collection provided the setting for people to spend time together.

A collection shaped by personal choices
The variety is immediately apparent as you look through the halls. Our photographs show British convertibles beside Italian sports cars, American classics alongside unusual French designs. Period photographs, rally plaques and an illuminated carousel fill the spaces between them. Together, they also show how someone has lived with an interest over many years.
Special versions of the Citroën SM are a focus of the collection. Cady Cars lists the Espace, Mylord and Opéra, as well as Jerry Hathaway’s SM. These cars invite a closer look at the choices and engineering ideas behind their creation.

What belongs with a car
Cady Cars describes historical records as an integral part of the collection: previous registrations, factory documents, photographs and maintenance records. As engineers, we are interested in precisely this relationship between a vehicle and the information that helps trace its life.
A file provides important evidence. What it establishes needs to be assessed against the individual car. For us, preservation also involves reading documents carefully, understanding their context and recording unanswered questions. That is how knowledge can travel with a vehicle.

Why this evening mattered
Artcurial has announced the sale of the Thierry Dehaeck Collection in Paris on 5 February 2027. In that context, “One last party” takes on an added meaning. We had the chance to experience these cars together in the surroundings that had grown around them.
When a collection passes into new hands, its connections change. The documents, photographs and memories that accompany it become all the more valuable. That applies to the history of an individual car and to the people who have cared for and driven it over the years.
Thank you for having us
Dear Andreea and Thierry, thank you for your invitation and your hospitality. We were very happy to spend this evening with you and to bring these impressions home.
Our photographs are a reminder of the cars, the place and the people who made the evening.
